Sonic detection

Essentia listens to every track and builds a sound profile, then FAISS finds its closest neighbours. Matches come from how the music really sounds.

Questions, answered.

Is Sonnate really free?
Yes. Sonnate is MIT licensed and free for good. You host it yourself, so there are no paid tiers, no seats and nothing phoning home.
What do I need to run it?
Anything that runs Docker: a NAS, a Raspberry Pi 4, an old laptop or a small VPS. 1GB of RAM is plenty for most libraries.
How does it recommend music?
It builds a private taste model for each user from your play history: skips, repeats, time of day, the order you play things in. It all happens on your server, and nothing about your listening leaves the machine.
Which clients can I use?
The built-in web player, plus any Subsonic-compatible app on iOS, Android and desktop, so you can keep the player you already love.
Can my family have their own accounts?
Of course. Add as many users as you like, each with their own library view, taste profile and playlists. OIDC single sign-on works out of the box.
Does it modify my files?
Never. Sonnate only reads your library and keeps its index and taste data somewhere separate. Your original files stay exactly as you left them.
